WEEKEND RETREAT: UNCOVERING THE TRUE SELF WITH THOMAS MERTON (Sept 10 - 12, 2027)

This weekend will explore Thomas Merton’s understanding of the True Self, setting apart ordinary noise and demands, and offering time for silence, prayer, reflection and companionship. Merton teaches that beneath the roles we perform, the expectations we carry and the anxious self we construct, there is a deeper identity hidden in God’s love. This True Self is not something we achieve; it is something we receive, discover and learn to trust. Come as you are, with your questions, weariness, hopes and desire for renewal.
The first session for all Weekends Retreats begins at 7:30pm on the Friday. Participants are encouraged to attend Vespers at 6:30pm, followed by dinner, if possible. The final session for each weekend will conclude at 11:30am on the Sunday.
Please be reminded that we can not guarantee the availability of rooms at the Monastery Guesthouse during this event but other accommodation options are also available.
