This little book has had numerous incarnations from the first publication in 1970.  As the story of New Norcia has evolved over time, so has the town and the Mission, leaving a need to update the story, based on new developments and the corresponding challenges which face the Benedictine Community and the town.

Thanks are due to the Benedictine Community, whose interest inspired the late Dom Stephen Lennon OSB (1907-1988) to initiate and write the original Story of New Norcia.  His tremendous work has been continued and amplified by subsequent editors to create a general introduction that covers the main elements of a story that is ever increasing in richness and depth
