FRENCH IMPRESSIONIST MUSIC
Performed by Fr Robert Nixon, OSB
December 5, 2026
New Norcia Hostel
French Impressionism was an artistic movement originating in the late 19th century and continuing into the 20th century. Initially inspired by the work of artists like Monet and Renoir, it focused on blurring and mixing of colours and light to capture the beauty of elusive moments. Musicians like Debussy, Satie and Ravel were inspired by this art, and produced beautiful music with a similar aesthetic vision. This evening will present a programme of the greatest music of the composers of the Impressionist style.
The evening will commence at 6.30pm and will be accompanied by dishes prepared by Abbot John to suit the music!
